Sydney’s New Year’s Eve celebrations were a spectacle, with a fireworks display over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The event included a 9 pm family fireworks show and the midnight display, which featured over 8.5 tonnes of fireworks. The city also hosted a “Welcome to Country” ceremony to honor Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Sydney’s fireworks over the harbour paid homage to Prince and David Bowie, and were set to a music medley inspired by the late singers.
